Title

Overview

Chunkerror is a data pack that replaces every chunk in the whole world with a random other chunk of the same world. As most chunks have a different height as other chunks, this results in a shattered landscape with giant pillars, usually pulled from mountain biomes. But not only is the terrain pulled from different chunks, even the original biome is sustained. Generally, the only thing that doesn't carry over from the original chunk are the entities.

Overworld

Survival

Even though this data pack was mostly just made for the concept alone, it's 100% playable in survival. You still have access to all resources, so feel free to do an actual playthrough of this data pack.

Dimensions

This data pack does not only work for the overworld, but also for the nether and the end. Since the nether is really just a giant cave system, this turns it into a giant maze, while the end, which mostly consists of void, turns into a checkerboard of void and end islands.

Accessing The Nether

As the world generation is very slow, it's recommended to stay in place for a few seconds once you enter the nether (same goes for the end). Also keep in mind that your nether portal might break if it's generated in a chunk border, so make sure to bring some obsidian the first time you enter any portal.

Nether

Accessing The End

Since there are only 128 strongholds in the world, it's pretty much impossible to find a stronghold, so it's highly recommended to download an additional data pack that enables the crafting of end portal frames if you want to play this in survival, such as this one: https://modrinth.com/datapack/craftable-end-portal-frames

The End

Known Issues

The chunk generation in this data pack is very slow, so you might be able to leave the perimeter in which the chunks are randomized, upon which a chunk will generate on top of you, potentially resulting in death, so maybe don't do that. Also, as this is a data pack, the chunk generation is very laggy, so it's recommeneded to play this alongside optimization mods, with low render distance ect. until you reach a stable frame and tick rate.

Getting Started

To install Chunkerror, simply drop the data pack into your world's "datapacks" folder, after which your should be ready to go! No need to extract the zip folder, just put it into the folder as it is.
